The interception of forty four cartons of suspected tramadol at the cargo warehouse of the Freetown International Airport in Lungi was neither dramatic nor disorderly. It unfolded quietly, guided by intelligence, precision, and institutional restraint. Yet its implications extend far beyond a single seizure, touching upon Sierra Leone’s constitutional responsibilities, regional obligations, and international commitments to security, public health, and the rule of law….

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested and detained three National Revenue Authority (NRA) officials from the ASYCUDA Department, probing a whopping Le300 billion (old leones) financial misappropriation scandal. This bold move underscores the Commission’s relentless pursuit of graft in key public institutions.
The suspects, whose identities are yet to be disclosed, are assisting investigators with the alleged funds embezzlement probe. The ACC assures the public that investigations are on track, following due process.
Meanwhile, the Commission is also investigating alleged irregularities in diplomatic and service passport issuance at the Immigration Department. The ACC vows to keep the public posted as probes unfold.
These developments resonate with Sierra Leone’s push for transparency and accountability in public finance management. Watch this space.

By any democratic standard, constitutions mean more than legal documents. They are moral compacts, political guardrails, and the last line of defense between power and abuse.Typically, constitutions are rarely rewritten in moments of calm. They are usually shaped by history, fear, ambition, and hope. Sierra Leone’s proposed Constitution (Amendment) Act, 2025 arrives at such a moment—eight years after a contested democratic transition, amid economic strain, institutional mistrust, and a public yearning for stability….

A recent video circulating on social media has sparked outrage and raised questions about Musa Tarawalie’s suitability for the presidency. The former Internal Affairs Minister and current aspirant for the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) flag bearer ship position was caught threatening President Julius Maada Bio and making allegations against the First Lady.
In the video, Tarawalie warns the President to “put a stop to his wife” or face consequences, stating he will “handle her and resist her fearlessly”. The public is questioning whether Tarawalie’s behavior is befitting of a potential head of state.
Many are criticizing Tarawalie for using social media to make unsubstantiated allegations against the First Lady, rather than following official channels. “If he can make such threats and accusations without investigation, what’s to stop him from doing the same as president?” asked a concerned citizen.
Tarawalie’s comments come after joining forces with Omrie Golley, another politician known for controversy. His bid for the SLPP flag bearership has sparked debate, with many wondering if he’s up to the task of leading Sierra Leone.
The public is calling for accountability and responsible leadership. Is Musa Tarawalie fit to be president? The people of Sierra Leone demand answers.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

AFTER HIS BRUTAL ACT, CORPORAL KAMARA KILLED HIMSELF
I. The attention of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) has been drawn to a video, falsely purporting that the soldier, who brutally killed his superior in rank two days ago, was allegedly killed immediately after his arrest….

Over two decades of public observation reveal a consistent pattern in Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden’s conduct: her actions and narratives are ultimately guided by personal interest, often at the expense of national cohesion, institutional integrity, and collective goals.
Today marks exactly 7 years since Dr Sylvia Olayinka Blyden celebrated the worst social media lunatics in the history of Sierra Leone by proudly featuring two of them on the front page of her popular newspaper; awareness times. At the time, these lunatics spent days, nights, weeks, months and years abusing prominent citizens, including myself, my parents, my wife and children, Pres Julius Maada Bio, First Lady Fatima and several other decent Sierra Leoneans they deemed opposed to apc. Interestingly, these same lunatics that she was singing praises for, eventually started abusing her in the worst possible manner, bitter lessons I’ll say. You’ll think that when I published these awful records of hers today, she would be humble enough to apologise and reflect on her awful deeds. Instead, she came out with guns blazing and used colourful languages as she notoriously does whenever she is caught out.

I am closely monitoring the ongoing constitutional reform process in Sierra Leone. A national constitution should be drafted in good faith. It should serve the interests of every citizen. It should serve as a blueprint for solving societal problems and anticipating future challenges, especially given our country’s history. To ensure a stable future, this reform should be inclusive, devoid of political manoeuvres, and adopt a conflict resolution approach, focusing on the essential pillars of:
*Genuine Democracy* – How can we advance the true meaning of separation of powers and establish an executive that can be held accountable by other branches of government?…
